Wedding In Italy

This series of images were taken at my brothers wedding in Italy. In this set I focused on multiple concepts such as landscape photography, rule of thirds, and portraits. I also found the architecture in Italy to be very unique and greatly contrast from the more modern architecture in San Francisco. I edited the color and exposure in some of these images to bring out distinct detail of every subject.

Multi Frame Graphic Notation

This project is a continuation of my previous assignment focused on graphic notation. This cohesive set of images focuses on street art and architecture where I created multi frame images that connect through different leading lines and colors. I did not edit these portraits because I also want to apply the nature of each images shadows and brightness.

Graphic Notation

In photography Graphic notation is an artistic approach of taking pictures and applying the theme or patterns in every image to convey a specific rhythm in music. In this cohesive set of images, I focused on street art and taking pictures of architecture and nature to bring out a concrete pattern that refers to musical symbolism. I edited the exposure and color tone in certain images to bring out the significance of moods and how that relates back to music notation.

Set 1 Assignment

This is the first assignment of the year and I focused on exploring new techniques in photography. In this set I worked on angling my camera differently to capture specific detail in every object. When editing I changed the exposure and added to the color in order to reveal distinct aspects of every object in greater depth. 

My Personal Style

This year I have focused a lot on architecture and natural approaches in photography...

In this picture, I continued to explore urban architecture through different points of view and lighting.

Street art has always been my favorite style of photography and in this picture I strive to incorporate an urban setting as well as a naturalistic style. 

As a continuation of the picture above, I continue to challenge myself by associating a "city life" with naturalistic photography. 

Along with street photography, I have always indulged in foreground background approaches where I focus on a specific bold object with an ambiguous background.  

Lastly I've really enjoyed portrait photography, however I strive to incorporate my personal unique style of portraits. In this picture I captured the model however I also incorporated foreground background photography. 

Childhood Memories

My childhood memories seem to revolve around the unique San Francisco landscapes. Every picture presents a specific aspect of my childhood in San Francisco through bright and vibrant colors. Along with landscapes, I focus on capturing distinct objects, such as trees, flowers, animals, and buildings to further convey a specific interpretation of my childhood.

Student Progress Review

            Matt approaches every picture with a very unique style of patterns and foreground/background photography. This style is distinctly portrayed in his “Grids and Chain Link” series where he cohesively organized patterns in an interesting framework, where one aspect of the pictures flows into another.

            Joel has developed an interesting style of photography that incorporates various techniques into capturing a single moment through a color splash. Joel captures a picture that he then develops into a black and white image and singles out a section where color is added. This distinctive approach captures certain aspects of an image that are not necessarily visible otherwise.

            Chloe focuses on a variety of different styles, but the one that captures me the most is her experimentation with color. In her last project “Re-edited”, Chloe added a whole new tone and mood to her pictures by exaggerating colors. Every picture in this series explores a whole new theme through colors.

            Winslow’s approach on capturing the simplicity of every picture creates more interpretations for the viewer. I find it very interesting how Winslow pictures do not seem to be overly developed as he strives to bring out the reality of every setting instead of altering the exposure or color.

            Haley has developed a very urban-like style of photography as most of her images portray a very equivocal tone. Many of Haley’s photography collections revolve around various San Francisco urban settings, where she captures a whole new theme through lighting and shadows. 

            Isaac approaches his final sets of series through the process of developing every picture by adding layers of bold colors. Every portrait presents exaggerated coloring, which truly captures specific aspect of every picture. 

            Emma’s naturalistic and urban approach of photography is truly captivating becaushe she puts a lot of effort into capturing detail in her images. The architecture and lighting of every picture displays a new theme and tone. In her last series “Edits”, Emma captured different San Francisco architecture beginning with something as specific as a railing to the broad city landscape.

 These transitions from something completely open for interpretation to an image of something detailed that offers an explanations is a very progressive photorgaphic style that can be influential in many aspects in the art of photography. I am also very memsmerized by her “Grid” photography, where she focused on hands and conveying distinct personalities through the position of hands.

            Leah’s photographic approaches revolve around the theme of nature and animals as she captures a specific mood through every portrait. It truly amazes me how Leah capture a specific facial expression on every animal that displays a distinct quality.

            Emily engages in portrait photography and capturing various moods through every depiction. I am truly captivated by her style of developing every portrait to reveal a distinct theme. After she develops the colors and background of every image, the viewer always has something new to interpret.  

            I like Tess’s naturalistic photography and capturing various landscapes in every series. I am truly mesmerized by her “Song Project”, where she captures different naturalistic views to represent her emotions and perception.
