THIRDS

This project allowed the class to focus on the Rule of the Thirds where I would place my subject divided into one third of the frame. This is a new approach for picture taking because like macro-mode the background is blurred, but the object is captured up close. In most of my images the subject is captured on the lower right corner and these images were shot in black and white for a mysterious effect. 

HIGH SCHOOL

This series is based on my current experience in high school and the various activities I engage in. Music is a very prominent aspect that symbolizes my time in high school as well as numerous sports. Entourage is my favorite show that I currently watch and I think the Hangover was one of the funniest comedies made this year.   

MIDDLE SCHOOL

This Blast From The Past series is focused on middle school, so I strived to find my favorite movies, television shows, and hobbies that I enjoyed. Throughout middle school I began to listen to rap/hip-hop music so this series reveal many of my favorite artists growing up. I also captured some of my favorite films, which portray my favorite actors in middle school, such as Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. 

LATE CHILDHOOD

This is my second series that focuses on my late childhood in elementary school. This series is introducing various sports, television shows, and arts that I enjoyed and would dedicate my time towards. In my late childhood I would constantly strive to excel as an athlete, as well as spend extensive periods of time watching TV or playing video games. I approached these images in black and white to reveal self-expression and a different effect. 

BLAST FROM THE PAST-EARLY CHILDHOOD

This part of the Blast From The Past project is capturing images of various TV shows, toys, places, and books from my early childhood. For this project we browsed the internet and I mostly took images on my favorite TV shows and cartoons. These images were captured in black and white and from various angles to provide originality and self-expressioin. 

Student Progress

I think Eric has progressed throughout this year whether it was the first series we worked on, to the last Op Art series he has created. I think that he has really developed his ability in street photography and when creating marcro-mode series. I truly like the last cohesive series that he created over numerous drafts and I think he achieved the idea of using various shapes and lighting to master Op Art. 

Kenna has a very interesting style of photography and I have noticed that most of her series are created around street photography. Including the final series that she has just developed, many of her images surround the idea of various lightings and shapes around the street. Along with this style she also assembled many images with landscape and capturing different styles of buildings and street signs. 

Based on the last series that Iris has created I have learned that her strongest abilities in photography revolve around portraits and capturing various lighting to provide mystery. Creating cohesive portrait series truly mesmerized me because along with the portraits Iris also provides the images with various backgrounds and contrast. Along with these mesmerizing portraits she also did a great job editing her images by developing the contrast and exposure. 

Lucas has truly developed his work throughout this years photography class and I like how he based his final series on Op Art in order to reveal various changes in colors designs. Lucas also focused many of his works on street photography which includes landscape and street treasures. I think that Lucas accomplished his goal in the final project and he was able to develop a series that focuses on various shapes and mysterious lighting. 

I really like how Thayer has developed this original style of photography that is focused more on portraits with varying backgrounds. I have observed many of Thayer's works and I have noticed that she truly enjoys portrait photography. She is able to capture different emotions and facial expressions through numerous changes of lighting and angles. I really enjoyed looking through her final series because she was able to accomplish her goal of capturing candid portraits, but I also think she did a great job developing her images by providing contrast and exposure.  

Fatima has truly excelled with her abilities in photography in the final series where she strived to capture various street treasures along with changes in landscape. Fatima did an excellent job providing all her images with the concept of mystery and various emotions. These images reveal changes in shade and the style of macro-mode that exposes this idea of capturing objects up close with a mesmerizing blurred background. I think Fatima continues to challenge herself when capturing images and strives to bring out the originality. 

Deana has developed a very interesting portrait style of photography where every image captures a different perspective and emotion. Based on Deana's final series I have learned that her portraits continue to improve and that she truly strives to capture changes in facial expressions. Also many of her images in the final series truly look natural, which provides the image with natural lighting and shades. Finally I like how her portraits continued to change in background which reveals the idea of diverse emotions. 

I really enjoy Kendall's approach in photography because she provides her style with originality and self-expression. Her final series revolved around flowers and interesting plants with landscape backgrounds. I like how she captures many of her images in black and white to reveal mystery and changes in emotions. I like how distinct flower images are take with the style of macro-mode in order to portray a blurred landscape background. Finally I like how her series displays a natural feel and does not look she spent to much time striving to develop it. 

Final Series

This is my final draft of the macro-mode series where I picked the images that truly reveal the idea of this project. All these images have blurred backgrounds with various bright colors and exposures. These images were developed through picnik and captured from tilt-shift.
