Best of Series

In this series I collected the best of all my images into one draft to portray my understanding of Michael Kenna's work. All these images portray black and white foreground background photography alluding to the relationship between naturalism and a "busy" city life. Similarly to Michael Kenna's photography, I strived to focus on the detail of every subject in relation to the equivocal elements of a city life.

Final Draft - Series

In my final draft I continued to explore foreground background photography, but focusing closer on the detail of a specific subject. I think the techniques and approach I used when capturing these images presents a better relationship with Michael Kenna's photography, as I strived to convey a specific theme between the relationship of the subject and it's background. My final draft presents a "busy" city life with human and naturalistic interactions, yet similar to Michael Kenna's work, each image is left open for the viewers interpretation.

Series Draft #2

This is my second draft of cityscape photography, but in this series I have narrowed down my approach and continued to explore foreground background photography. In relation to Michael Kenna's work, this series incorporates the theme of a "busy" city life connecting to a more naturalistic approach with trees, leafs, and flowers as the primary subject. In these black and white images I strived to clearly portray the subject and blur a busy background presenting a city life. Although the image of the hand as the subject does not necessarily correspond to Michael Kenna's work, this is an idea I want to further explore in my next draft, incorporating human qualities in cityscapes.
