Final Personal Series

This is my final series with a central focus on architectural photography. In the past I have explored the relationship between architecture and street treasures, but for this series I have decided to narrow down my focus onto specific elements of architecture. I decided to capture various shades, shapes, textures, and color patterns.

Best of Negative Series Draft

This my strongest work from my Negative Space Series. These images present cohesive qualities exploring negative space through changes in lighting, shadows, and angle positions. These images present the best relationship between human qualities and creating art. The actions and facial expressions each model presents conveys a specific mood in every image and helps the viewer understand their artistic approach. These are my strongest images that I would like to incorporate in my book along with other images that focus on a similar idea.

Negative Space Series Draft #4

This is my final draft of my Negative Space Series, where I continue to explore portrait photography through a negative space approach. In this series I focused more on experimenting with lighting and shadows to bring out a specific emotion through facial expressions and actions. Also I strived to capture each model from a different angle to incorporate an interesting pattern with their surroundings.

Negative Space Series Draft #3

In my third negative space series draft, I focused more on black and white portrait photography working with specific angles to capture the bright lighting and shadows. My previous post explored the relationship between human qualities and art, and in this series I decided to carry this concept into creating full portraits of models focusing on their art. I think this is my strongest draft because it clearly demonstrates negative space, but I am also able to incorporate elements of portrait photography.

Negative Space Series Draft #2

In my second negative space draft, I focused more on the idea of capturing the creation of art. I decided to  experiment with the relationship between human qualities and art, rather than a central focus on street art. I noticed that in this series, I was more successful in incorporating negative space and portraying naturalism instead of staged photography. In my next series, I may want to explore a different style of negative space and then decide which technique/style works best with negative space photography.

Negative Space Series Draft #1

In my Negative Space Personal Series, I focus on the relationship between human qualities and architecture in a city life. In my previous assignment I focused more on nature and simplicity through negative space, but I think adding human qualities conveys different emotions in every image. When striving to capture negative space, I was also curious to experiment with shadows and lighting creating different color tones in the background.

Negative Space Series

In my Negative Space Series, I primarily strived to capture the relationship between nature and architecture conveying a more simple and calm mood in a city. All my images are set in black and white allowing the viewer to focus more on shapes and patterns rather than the direct detail of every subject. This was an interesting assignment that allowed me to further explore my interest in capturing street treasures, but at the same time challenge myself to incorporate negative space. Although the last image in this series does not directly correlate with the rest of this cohesive set, I though it would be interesting to add a different style of negative space photography.
